All Notre Dame students in grades one to eight have scheduled music classes each week.  Students experience music in a variety of ways including singing, listening and movement.  They learn rhythm and notation through a combination of Kodaly and Orff methods that include hands-on work with rhythm instruments and recorder playing.  Interdisciplinary efforts are valued and music history and appreciation are taught.  Each grade ( PK-4) participates in one musical performance during the school year.  Students in grades 5-8 participate in a spring musical play.
