Last October Clarendon Hills Police Officer Roger Medrano joined us for an all school mass where he was blessed by Father Bob before being deployed to Iraq. Every day since, the students have prayed for his safe return. The children have sent him letters, cards, and little presents in an effort to remind Office Medrano that the children at home are constantly thinking of him.
Friday, May 16, Officer Medrano returned to Notre Dame School. Not only did he thank the students for their faithfulness to him during his deployment but shared pictures of him going about his work, interacting with everyday Iraqi citizens, local children and community leaders.
Office Medrano is home for a few days of debriefings and will return to Iraq Sunday, May 18.
