Notre Dame Parish offers a wide range of adult education and enrichment opportunities under the direction of Pastoral Associate, Dr. Douglas Muir, EdD and a committee of dedicated parishioners. There is truly something for everyone in these programs. Come and enjoy a morning, evening, a weekly series, or possibly a day. You will be glad you did!
“The Church wisely and repeatedly insists that adult faith formation is essential to who we are and what we do as Church and must be situated, not at the periphery of the Church´s education mission, but at its center." - Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us, US Catholic Bishops

Book Discussion Group
Everyone is welcome! The purpose of the Book Discussion Group is to increase our awareness, help us to grow in our faith and in our spirituality. Discussions of the books provide an open, non-threatening forum to discuss our faith in today’s world.
Even if you don't have time to read the book, we encourage you to attend and join in the discussion. Watch the bulletin for information regarding the current book.
Throughout the year, and during church liturgical seasons, special programs are offered. Please visit this website or watch the bulletin for future information about upcoming enrichment events.
Sponsor couples meet with an engaged couple to discuss such issues as communication, role expectations, intimacy, and faith. Sessions take place in the home of the sponsor couple at a time convenient to both couples. In addition, Marriage Enrichment programs are held throughout the year to strengthen and enhance the sacred bonds of matrimony.
Notre Dame has opened its annual Mission Trip to adults who are interested in spending a week in Jamaica helping to build housing for the poor. The week long mission trip is usually scheduled in June. For more information, please contact Dr. Doug Muir at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Parish Mission, held annually, explores in depth, over three consecutive evenings, a topic vital to our faith and to our lives as Disciples of Christ.
Retreats for Women and Men
Christ Renews His Parish, or CRHP, is a program designed to help us renew our Christian faith by bringing members of the Notre Dame Parish community together in Christ. It is a break from your busy schedule of personal, business and family obligations so that you can refresh yourself spiritually and renew your heart by meeting with and listening to the experiences of other men or women from our Parish in an informal and relaxed environment of reflection, fellowship and fun. The emphasis during the weekend is on small group participation. Everyone is free to share as much or as little as they feel comfortable doing. Discussion and sharing is enjoyed by all participants. After the weekend, the opportunity to continue faith formation exists with an option to continue to meet and grow as a spiritual community and eventually share what they have experienced with others.
CRHP offers separate weekends for both men and women. The process is personal, inspirational, and fulfilling. Many participants feel that the "weekend experience" was among the most powerful and positive of their lives.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The R.C.I.A. is the process by which a person enters the Catholic faith. The process includes preparation for and the celebration of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
Catechumens and candidates experience the weekend Liturgies with a small community of teachers, sponsors and others on the journey. They study the Sunday readings together, “Breaking Open God’s Word”. Seekers also attend teach and faith-sharing sessions with Catechists (teachers of Catholic tradition) from the parish who have been prepared to teach.
Notre Dame Catechumenate is a year-round process. One’s readiness in the conversion process determines the actual time of reception in the Catholic Church within a community celebration.
ADULT CONFIRMATION PREPARATION: Adults 19 years and older who have not been confirmed attend a series of classes offered during the Easter Season from the Second Sunday of Easter through the Seventh Sunday of Easter after Mass on Sundays. Confirmation is celebrated at St. Raymond Cathedral in Joliet on Pentecost.
CHILDREN and YOUTH: Children, youth and teens who are not baptized or who are out of ordinary time in sacrament preparation are incorporated into the parish RCIA process through the Religious Education Programs for children and youth.
If you are interested in learning about the Catholic faith, you are welcome to begin a journey of exploration and faith with the people of Notre Dame. For information contact Dr. Douglas Muir, EdD, 630-601-1764 - firstname.lastname@example.org.
Parish members are invited to be sponsors. It is a wonderful way to renew one’s knowledge of the Catholic faith. Sponsors attend the RCIA sessions from September through Easter.
